Robert Louis Stevenson Bundle, 2 in 1 Bundle: The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Treasure Island
Robert Louis Stevenson was a Scottish novelist, essayist, poet and travel writer. Two of his most famous works are Treasure Island and The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is about a London lawyer named Gabriel John Utterson who investigates strange occurrences between his old friend, Dr Henry Jekyll and the misanthropic Edward Hyde. He suspects that their relationship is based on blackmail or something completely sinister but the truth is actually worse than he could have imagined. The novella's impact is such that it has become a part of the language, with the phrase "Jekyll and Hyde" coming to mean a person who is vastly different in moral character from one situation to the next. Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde was an immediate success and is one of Stevenson's best-selling works. It has inspired many adaptations to film, television and theatre.
Treasure Island is an adventure novel narrating a tale of "buccaneers and buried gold". Traditionally considered a coming-of-age story, Treasure Island is a tale noted for its atmosphere, characters and action, and also as a wry commentary on the ambiguity of morality -- unusual for children's literature. This is an extraordinary tale of the boy Jim Hawkins who came into possession of Captain Flint’s treasure map after a buccaneer took a room at his inn and later died. He planned a voyage to the Treasure Island to retrieve the treasure but unknowingly hired Flint’s former quartermaster as a crew. So what followed was chaos and mutiny and the treasure map continues to claim more victims.
Stevenson was a great author and was a celebrity in his lifetime and in 2018, he was only behind Charles Dickens as the 26th-most-translated author in the world. Download a copy of this 2 in 1 bundle today!
