Anne of Avonlea is a novel written by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Following Anne of Green Gables, this book covers the second chapter in the life of Anne Shirley. Once a spunky, freckled orphan, Anne has grown up and now serves as the teacher of the Avonlea school. She still has her imaginative spirit and fearless temperament though. She takes her place among the prominent people of Avonlea society, as its only schoolteacher.
