Jodi H. Grubbs

Jodi H. Grubbs is an American author, podcaster, and slow-living advocate best known for her book Live Slowly (2024). She also co-authored The Friendship Café, a Bible study that explores the theme of friendship.

Jodi Grubbs was born and raised on the Caribbean island of Bonaire. After moving to the United States, Jodi studied fashion merchandising at Bauder College.

Her transition from island life to city life in the States initially led her to a fast-paced culture that she would eventually try to escape: the best places and people of the Turkish resort town.

Jodi's literary career began with the children's book The Island Adventures of Lili and Oliver, a whimsical tale inspired by her childhood. Her works reflect a deep commitment to finding joy and peace in simple pleasures.

Live Slowly (2024) is a heartfelt exploration of slow living, a concept Jodi rediscovered after feeling overwhelmed by the relentless pace of modern life. In reflecting on her island upbringing, she shares her journey from burnout to restoration, offering readers practical advice on embracing a slower pace through spiritual practices and mindfulness.

The book encourages readers to make space for God, others, and themselves, emphasizing the importance of rest and intentional living. Each chapter provides actionable steps for integrating slow-living principles into daily life and includes a six-session group guide.

In addition to her writing, Jodi hosts the podcast Our Island in the City, where she discusses themes of slow living and intentionality.

Jodi Grubbs lives in a restored 1952 bungalow in downtown Garner, North Carolina, with her husband, Dean, their daughter, Lili, and their feisty Yorkie-Poo, Bella.
