I could spend years, maybe even decades living in the fear of losing her… of our children losing their mother—should we be so blessed to have them

And this was the true cause for celebration: pregnancies, especially when it was a female. The thought of having a little girl of my own had my heart filling to bursting.

I just hoped she wouldn’t assume it meant I didn’t care enough to make myself more attractive to her.

She looked smaller and more fragile than I anticipated, which immediately had every single protective instinct in me surging to the fore.

The redness on her face where her mask had applied pressure on her skin upset me.

“Ah! So you find me sexy, do you? Then again, how could you not?”

“Then tell your insecurities to get lost,” he said with pretend severity. “As long as your body is healthy, the rest is irrelevant. Oxygen poisoning has made you lose a bit too much weight back on Earth. Now that you are in the right environment for you to thrive, we will get you back to your ideal weight. But as for its shape, your body is what it was meant to be. And I, for one, find it pleasant to the eye.”

I loved seeing my color on her skin.

Before our lips even touched, a bolt of fire exploded in the pit of my stomach at the feel of her naked skin against mine. As soon as my mouth touched hers, a hungry growl rose from my throat. I tightened my embrace around my female, my head tilting to the side.
