Sarah Lotus Asare

Sarah Lotus Asare is a trained Archaeologist and a Boxing Enthusiast.

She began her journey in boxing when she wrote a term paper on why people engage in boxing during her studies at the University of Ghana. Since then she has been finding ways to interrogate the subject “Bukom Boxing: A Way of Life or a Means of Survival”.

Sarah has contributed in various ways to the boxing community in Ghana through roles such as the Administrator for Wisdom Boxing Gym and the Board Member of the Greater Accra Boxing Association. Through her various engagements in boxing, Sarah has demonstrated a deep interest in the education of children and women, by coming up with positive initiatives that promote their growth and livelihoods. Her work in this area has earned her a feature on CNN.

In 2021 Sarah started a project — Girl’s Box, a platform that allows female boxers to showcase their skills, and advocate against teenage pregnancy and breast cancer.

She currently serves as the WBC Cares Africa Chapter Executive Secretary; working with champions and future champions to use their platform for social change. Sarah’s purpose for writing this book is that children will come to enjoy Ghana’s boxing philosophy and her deep boxing heritage. This book was born out of this passion.
