Kōta Nozomi is a Japanese novelist known for his light novels. He is best known for the series When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace (2012–2018), which was adapted into anime and manga.
Nozomi was born in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. He attended Yokohama National University and began writing while still a student. In February 2011, his novel Boku wa Yappari Kizukanai won the 5th Novel Japan Gold Prize. Shortly after, in April 2011, his novel Happy Death Day won the 3rd GA Bunko Award of Excellence.
Nozomi wrote: "Although Boku wa Yappari Kizukanai was published first, Happy Death Day was my earliest work".
Later in 2011, Boku wa Yappari Kizukanai was published by HJ Bunko in August, and Happy Death Day followed in September. Both works established his place in the light novel genre.
In 2012, after graduating from Yokohama National University, he published the first volume of When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace. The series gained popularity and inspired an audio drama (2013), a manga (2013) and an anime adaptation (2014).
Nozomi continued to create light novel series that showcased his versatility. These include Uchi no Class no Tayorinai Last Boss (2013), Kuroki Eiyū no Wanta One Turn Kill! (2013–2016), and Are You Okay With a Slightly Older Girlfriend? (2018–2020), which has also been published in English.
His other notable titles include Light Novel Pro! (2016–2017), Saiaku Tantei (2017), and Shindō Yūsha to Maid Onesan (2019). Nozomi's creative style often blends supernatural elements with humour and relatable characters.
