Lisa Marie Griffith

Lisa Marie Griffith is from Waterford and studied history at University College Dublin and has a PhD from Trinity College. She became fascinated by the history of Dublin and throughout her studies worked as a walking tour guide in Dublin. She presented a series about Dublin history on Anna Livia (now Dublin City FM) for two years and is now Coordinator of the Cultural and Heritage Studies Programme at the National Print Museum in Dublin.

IN 1204 KING JOHN, youngest son of Henry II, ordered that a castle be built in Dublin, and Dublin Castle remained central to the day-to-day running of the colonial administration in Ireland until 1922, when British forces withdrew from the new Irish Free State.
