One of the more primary and important tenets of stoic philosophy is the emphasis that it places on the present moment, that moment being the one thing that one should accept in order to find true happiness. There is also emphasis placed on not letting one’s actions be determined by the desire for pleasure and or the fear of any pain

and therefore anyone who strived for the highest virtue would find lasting happiness and would be emotionally resilient in the face of any misfortunes.

This is divorced from the true nature of stoicism because a true stoic is genuinely indifferent to pleasure, fear, or pain.
