Lost in a mirror, crying a river
surrendering fear
Whilst you are always here
For You
Suspended in the air,
you sit and sparkle there
and I just sit and stare
Your gravitational pull, keeps my heart full
Though your light shines down upon me
Though I long to touch thee
I know you no longer love me
So I must embrace natures cruel fate,
to watch you glitter,
whilst I wither
Fading in the shadows
My heart has broken
Your name is now unspoked

But when darkness creeps upon me at night,
it’s then I search for you in light

I lit the candle
Its yellow glow spoke of trust
The martyr gave me faith,
to place my hands in yours
To trust that you heard my suffering
That you believed in the betrayal I endured
I did it for you
I trusted in you
I lied for you
I threw my soul to the floor
I maintained I had no worth at all

I wish the first time I felt your darkness
I ran
I wish when you made me feel like nothing
I ran
I wish when my heart failed to beat
I ran
It rained your empty words upon my soul
It poured your taunts upon my heart

It upsets me the most that I need you to complete me

Living in regret
I dwelled in the sorrow of abandonment
Stepping out of my body,
pretending to be somebody
smarter
prettier
a high achiever
My goals were never reached and it’s only me I deceived

It’s sad to watch you try
but I know pity is a lie
I feel the weight of their anchors;
expectation
domination
poisoning your body like radiation
So scared to drown
you entertain all like a clown
Balancing on a tightrope
addicted to the vain hope
that they love you

For I know that although haunted
I am no longer daunted
by the shadows of wanting to reach out and touch
knowing I loved you too much
