Louisa May Alcott was an American novelist and poet, best known as the author of Little Women and its sequels. She won the Caldecott Award for Little Women.
Alcott became even more successful with the publication by the Roberts Brothers of Little Women (1868), a semi-autobiographical account of her childhood with her sisters in Concord, Massachusetts.
