Who’s the wolf in the woods now?

You’re a wolf and I’m a hunter.

It was always men like this, men who thought that they could take what they wanted and leave the broken scraps of people behind.

Now Adam was gone and it was just Red, Red all alone with a long way to go in a world full of wolves.

Or maybe it wouldn’t, because you couldn’t just replace a person you loved with someone new.

How long could a person go without eating warm food or having shelter over their head? How long before they decided to risk going into an empty house, a depopulated town, a looted store, an abandoned car?

The virus hadn’t just stopped existing relationships in their tracks. It had taken away the promise of the future, of all the connections that might be made.

I didn’t want to go into town at all, because I was afraid that one of us might get sick, because anywhere that people are is where this damned virus is too.

There was already too much death weighing on her heart.
