This book leaves me with some questions, for starters what actually happened to the first woman he was meant to marry. Secondly, did she not think to go back to her family or did she simply refuse to have anything to do with them.

I could never wrap my head around the naivety of the past ages when it came to love. Or perhaps its the simplicity of what they felt and the fact that their time lacked the push and pull of our time and the endless games we play. Dragging out heartaches and suspense just to pretend we don’t feel the emotions we do

Tall, broad-shouldered and outstandingly handsome, he was not only the most attractive man in London but also the most raffish.
