Ernest Hemingway

3 Short Stories And 10 Poems

Ernest Hemingway's 'The Collection of Early Stories and Poems' offers readers a glimpse into the literary evolution of one of the greatest American authors of the 20th century. This compilation showcases Hemingway's raw talent and unique writing style that would later become iconic in his later works. From the simplicity of his prose to the depth of his characters, Hemingway's early stories and poems set the foundation for his future masterpieces. The reader will find themes of love, loss, war, and the human condition woven intricately throughout this collection, making it a must-read for Hemingway enthusiasts and literature lovers alike. Ernest Hemingway's own life experiences as a journalist and ambulance driver during World War I undoubtedly influenced his early works, providing him with a firsthand understanding of human emotions and the harsh realities of war. This background lends authenticity and emotional depth to the stories and poems in this collection, allowing readers to connect on a deeper level with the characters and themes portrayed. I highly recommend 'The Collection of Early Stories and Poems' to anyone interested in exploring the early works of a literary giant. Hemingway's writing style, coupled with the timeless themes he delves into, makes this collection a valuable addition to any library. It is a testament to the early genius of a writer who would go on to leave an indelible mark on the world of literature.

I never saw such a horse. He was being led around the paddock with his head down and when he went by me I felt all hollow inside he was so beautiful.

We got into Paris early in the morning in a long dirty station the old man told me was the Gare de Lyon. Paris was an awful big town after Milan. Seems like in Milan everybody is going somewhere and all the trams run somewhere and there aint any sort of a mixup, but Paris is all balled up and they never do straighten it out. I got to like it though, part of it anyway, and say it’s got the best race courses in the world. Seems as though that were the thing that keeps it all going and about the only thing you can figure on is that every day the buses will be going out to whatever track they’re running at going right out through everything to the track.
