Goal setters are picture painters. They are artists of life who use a canvas, brush, and paints to create images of what they want life to be like. But they don’t paint literal pictures—they paint mental, spiritual, and emotional ones. They create images of how their lives will be different if they do thus and so, and it is those images that inspire them to set a goal and achieve it.
Goal setters often take the image they’ve created in their mind and reduce it to writing. They describe, in their own words, how life will be once their goal is reached. This verbal picture becomes a tool in their hand to review, amend, and expand while they are working toward their goal.
