Thank you for sharing your story! I am sure it will be an inspiration to its readers. Keep climbing!”

As a woman of color and corporate executive who has worked and traveled the world for several Fortune 500 companies--all while managing a chronic illness--she provides insight into overcoming the barriers facing professionals in today's workplace.

As corporate professionals, women must do a better job of positioning themselves, branding themselves, and talking in very prescriptive terms with their direct managers and HR about their aspirations and what they want to do next. You can’t be shy about talking those things up, because that is the only way it’s going to happen with respect to advancing within your organization and in your career.

It’s great that you’re good at what you do, but it requires more than just keeping your head down, because sometimes people don’t pay attention. If you’re not present and you’re not exuding the attributes of a true leader, you could get passed over since they don’t know what you want to do or they think you’re happy with where you are. You’ve got to step out of your comfort zone, so let’s do some exercises that will get you out of your safe space.”
