The doctors removed the tumor they found on Susan Perry's brain, but the life-saving operation has left her sightless. Forced to give up her career as an obstetrician, she fears she will lose her fiancé as well. Determined to make it on her own, Susan--with the help of some talented counselors--learns to take care of herself. Eric doesn't seem to share her pride, or understand her choice to take a social worker's job at a rural medical clinic. But working there turns out to be the best thing she could have done.
