This is about a young African American man named Jeffery “Popeye” Ross' experience during WWII. When the U.S. entered war after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. At first he didn't want to get involved with war, but when he got his teen girlfriend pregnant and feeling the pressure from other people he decided to join the Army. That decision would change his life forever. While in the Army he would meet his best friend Willie Banks III who serve his life.
