Eleanor Cooney is the author of three previous books, all coauthored with Daniel Altieri: IRON EMPRESS (formerly DECEPTION)--A Novel of Murder and Madness in T'ang China; THE COURT OF THE LION: A Novel of the T'ang Dynasty; and SHORE OF PEARLS--A novel of Murder, Plague and the prison island of Hainan. She's recently completed a dark-but-funny and literate thriller caklled THE DEVIL YOU KNOW, set in Wisconsin in the present and in the 1890s. She lives in Mendocino, California.
