Kelly Romo

Kelly Romo is an American author of historical fiction novels and crime thrillers. She debuted Whistling Women in 2015 and has currently released three books.

Kelly Romo grew up in California but has lived in Oregon for over twenty-five years. Kelly has a Master of Fine Arts in Writing (Fiction) and a Master of Arts in Teaching, both from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon.

Her first book, set against the backdrop of the 1935 World’s Fair, explores the complex relationships between two estranged sisters, the sacrifices required to protect family, and the lasting consequences of a single impulsive act.

"It took me six to seven years to write Whistling Women, rewrite it, back to school, and then rewrite it again. It has been a lot of work, late nights, and early mornings — but all the more rewarding because of it," says the novelist.

This was followed by When Sorrow Takes (2021), based on true events of the Cristero War, and Thriller Dead Drift (2022) features two teenage girls who flee an Oregon group home seeking a better life in Canada.

Dead Drift is the first book in the Whitewater Thriller series that the writer is currently working on.

Kelly Romo is a mother of three. She currently lives in Oregon, where consumes large doses of true crime shows and historical research.
