Seeing the Mountain is a contemplative work exploring how the disciplined clarity of Zen practice can illuminate and deepen a committed Catholic life. Rather than treating Zen and Catholicism as competing worldviews, it shows how attentiveness, interior stillness, and direct experiential insight can strengthen one’s capacity to live the Christian faith with sincerity and presence.

At the center is the Mountain—a metaphor for the steady ground of awareness beneath shifting thoughts and emotions. Zen offers tools to recognize this ground directly, while Catholicism provides the sacramental and theological framework through which that recognition becomes a lived response to grace. Zen does not replace Catholic doctrine; it sharpens the capacity to receive it. Silence becomes prayer, attention becomes devotion, presence becomes charity.

Written in clear, accessible language, the book bridges classical contemplative wisdom with the lived experience of a modern Catholic practitioner. It is intended for readers drawn to contemplative spirituality, Catholics seeking a deeper interior life, and anyone interested in how ancient practices can support faith today. Ultimately, it affirms that Zen and Catholicism, held with discernment and humility, can work together to cultivate a heart attentive to God’s presence in all things. Narrated by the author.
