I’ve designed Photography for Writers to encompass writers whose photography is at all levels—from complete beginner to already-published and/or professional.

Other than a camera, you don’t need fancy equipment or even the newest software. Two of my DSLR (digital single-lens reflect) cameras are five or six years old, and I used one version of Photoshop for almost ten years before upgrading in 2017, all the while producing fine-arts photographs and developing my skills in both of my art forms.

As I’ve told the students in my workshops, with today’s technology, a camera phone is another awesome way to practice developing your photography muscles; the quality of shots from cell phones rivals just about any camera I’ve ever seen or owned.
