Athos Freeland is on a mission. Desperate to escape the reality bubble he grew up in, he meets a shadowy group called The Syndicate, who are dedicated to the establishment of Temporary Autonomous Zones — pirate spaces where freestyle creativity and euphoric celebration forge intense moments of freedom.

Trusting chaos theory and self organizing systems to drive a utopian ideal, they carve an experimental vortex of community, politics and economics. With the open source internet mirroring this philosophy on a global scale, Athos is soon drawn to Silicon Valley and its potential to shape new social and cultural dynamics.

From drug deals to data mining operations, druids to venture capitalists, The Syndicate is a whirlwind journey through the paradoxes of idealism. Bursting with irreverent humour, caustic observation and a crackling energy, it distils the story of a generation into one barnstorming adventure.
