Rachel Crowther

Rachel Crowther is a British author and former NHS doctor known for her work in contemporary fiction. After a twenty-year career in the medical field, she later turned to writing. Crowther also publishes under the pen name Rachel Hancox. Among her most notable works are A Parting of the Ways (2023) and The House at the Edge of the Woods (2024).

Rachel Crowther was Born in the UK. She combined a career in medicine with bringing up five children. Crowther began writing during her time as a doctor, finding moments between family life and work to explore her creative side.

After attending an Arvon writing course, she took her writing seriously, eventually publishing her first novel in 2011.

One of her best-known novels, The Things You Do for Love (2018), explores the life of a woman who, after taking early retirement to care for her dying husband, must confront the complexities of her relationships with her daughters. Crowther's ability to interweave timelines and perspectives gives her stories a unique depth. Reflecting on her process, she has said: "I see writing a novel as a bit like one of those foil art scratchcards where you scrape off the top black layer to reveal the colours underneath."

Rachel Crowther lives in Oxford with her husband, two youngest children, three dogs and a cat. She has a wide range of interests, from music to cooking, and enjoys knitting and gardening when she's not writing.

Loved this audiobooks. The story had so many interesting parts and the narrator was excellent. Absolutely loved the storyline.
