Fast Girl

It was as if I’d suddenly become a teenager. I wanted what felt good and was fun, all the time.

I didn’t admit to myself that I’d gotten in over my head or that I should go back to my old life. The thought never occurred to me. I just wanted to find the next adventure, the next thrill. The mechanism within me that would have clicked on to trigger embarrassment, fear, or even self-protection wasn’t working.
