7 Finally, add a few decorative elements if needed. I just added a simple heart in place of a period. Because the watercolor is so beautiful, you don’t want to hide too much of it with decorative elements.

6 Then, alternate through each type of greenery until you’ve completed your wreath all the way around. I also added a bunch of small dots around the greenery to add a finishing touch to the piece.

3 Continue writing out your phrase, fitting each word along the baseline of the one above by adjusting the placement accordingly. Oftentimes, I’ll “air write” my word to get a feel for where my ascenders and descenders will land before writing it with ink. This usually helps me get the fitting right the first (or second!) time. When making custom pieces, I’ll often use multiple pieces of practice paper trying to get the layout just right. So feel free to mess with it until it looks the way you want!
