One of Roald Dahl's most famous children's books.Matilda is a brilliant and sensitive child, but her parents think of her only as a nuisance. Even before she is five years old, she has read Dickens and Hemingway and still her parents think of her as a pest. So she decides to get back at them. Her platinum-haired mother and car salesman father are no match for her sharp genius, and neither is the cruel headmistress Miss Trunchbull. And then the child prodigy discovers she has an extraordinary psychic power that can save her school and especially the lovely kindergarten teacher, Miss Honey.

Is a book about a little girl who has a genius or something similar to make herself learn to read and make complicated maths.
Taking the unrealistic ideas brought in the story, there are some good ideas to reflect on,
    - The fact that Matilda was always happy no matter how people, specially her family, treated her.
    - How Matilda found a great interest on books and who that keep her entertained and curious.
    - She didn't want to be like her mother, a wife trophy, or a thief like her father.
    - She was kind and honest, she also fought to defend herself which is a great deal for a little girl like her.

A kid would find this book more enjoyable that I did but is a good book. It is 3.5

Miss Honey wondered what on earth was going on in the mind of this child.

"You could have just packed up and walked away," Matilda said.

"Not until I got a job," Miss Honey said. "And don't forget, I was by then dominated by my aunt to such an extent that I wouldn't have dared. You can't imagine what it's like to be completely controlled like that by a very strong personality. It turns you to jelly.

Matilda became very alert. The voice she was hearing was surely crying out for help. It must be. It had to be.
