    As you launch yourself into your new way of life, keep it clear in your mind that you’re not making a sacrifice. Eating junk and overeating give you no genuine pleasure or crutch whatsoever. You are not being deprived. It’s one of those rare occasions in life when you’re making wonderful positive gains and losing nothing at all. There’s a huge upside and no downside.

    Don’t try not to think about junk. One of the mistakes we make when we go on a diet is we try not to think about food, with the result that we end up obsessed by it. Trying not to think about something is a mug’s game anyway. If I say to you now, “Don’t think about elephants”, what are you immediately thinking about? Just make sure that whenever you do think about junk, you see it for what it really is.
