Monsters are bad things, but monsters that do not walk and talk like monsters are the worst.

But you have to be the bravest person in the world to go out every day being yourself when no one likes who you are.

Mrs Hume once told Max’s mom that it is sad that Max’s best friends are the kids who leave him alone, but Mrs Hume doesn’t understand that Max is happy when he is alone. Just because Mrs Hume and Max’s mom and most people are happiest when they are with their friends doesn’t mean that Max needs friends to be happy.

She sounds fake because she sounds like she is trying to be real instead of just being real.

It’s strange how teachers can go off to college for all those years to learn to become teachers, but some of them never learn the easy stuff. Like making kids laugh. And making sure they know that you love them.
