The craftsmen of the Shander domain are once again thrown into turmoil when they receive an order for thirty katana, and that’s not the worst part. It’s an order from King Rathbard himself. To overcome a slump in his career, Lutz travels to the royal capital and meets with the men who will be using his katana, but finds that they are a collection of oddballs. Among them is the mysterious Captain Leonard. Beyond his reputation as a war hero, his gloomy personality tells Lutz that his past must be rather murky. To complicate matters, he asks Lutz for something so nebulous that he is left in a state of bewilderment: a katana that will act as a fitting adornment for his own death. As is usually the case, forging such a katana for a man known as “the Grim Reaper” might only be the start of their problems. Will the wish that Lutz poured into the katana be granted, or are there some things that can’t be changed? This is a story of life, death, and what becomes of those who are left behind.
