For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare — poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a U.S. Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events, inspiring Outside magazine to name him The Fittest (Real) Man in America.

In Can't Hurt Me, he shares his astonishing life story and reveals that most of us tap into only 40% of our capabilities. Goggins calls this The 40% Rule, and his story illuminates a path that anyone can follow to push past pain, demolish fear, and reach their full potential.

"This book is a must read for someone who wants to restart their life and feels like they can't.
There is some uneasiness in the beginning, but it's worth getting through to learn of someone's wisdom and who they were before they became who they are.
Just because you feel like you're stuck in one spot, doesn't mean you are. This book really does make you realize that you're the creator of the type of life you end up with and that it's up to you to do better than before.
You learn to get past your insecurities and push through any problem you may come across. The challenges at the end of the chapters, I feel, truly help one come to terms with themselves and their pasts, and any upstairs battles they're facing. MUST READ.

Listened to it's audiobook version. Outstanding book with a story which says that pretty much every limit, especially in the physical realm, can be beaten, no matter your starting position. David Goggins is like a case when I imagine - what can be possible if you start living in 100% mode without any excuses... And to think that this story is ACTUALLY real, that it was done in real life by someone with really bad starting position - makes you think and re-prioritize your life a lot.

Went for a 30 minute run yesterday which was my longest run after more than 5 years because of the book and will make it a long-term habit.

The most important conversations you’ll ever have are the ones you’ll have with yourself. You wake up with them, you walk around with them, you go to bed with them, and eventually you act on them. Whether they be good or bad.

Very few people know how the bottom feels, but I do. It’s like quicksand. It grabs you, sucks you under, and won’t let go.

You cut corners and you are not gonna fucking make it,”
