I read this book after watching the movie. The book, is so much better when left to one's imagination. Gosh, now I want to explore Singapore in a newfound perspective.
Definitely a summer read, it was refreshing and predictable but still fascinating.
Another Cinderella story, with a twist of modern era.
CE on steroids. *sorry CE fans.... or not* ;)
Halfway reading it, I was certain I'll be giving 2* in my review, but then the story's getting so much better... only to be flat again in last couple chapters. So 3* it is. Not bad. Just not my fav taste of tea.
I love Astrid and her conflicted marriage. I can't blame Michael for being tired of their life, but I do looked down on him for being cowardice. He shouldn't married her ih he wasn't trully in love with her. He shouldn't orchestrating such a cheapen scheme to getting out of it. Speaking oh honorable and trully in love, Charlie gave me a chill. Wish him the very best of life.
Another character I like was Oliver. He's stealing some lime light here and there. Cunning as snake he is.
Well, by and by, I'm still curious enough to see how Nick and Rachel would holding on. So I might be taking the second book. But just don't hold your breath.
